Sub-cellular spatial snippets

Imaging molecules in-situ at sub-cellular resolution heralds a new era for understanding the molecular basis of disease. In this breakout session sponsored by the Central Facility of Genomics at Griffith University you will hear from world leading experts presenting on mapping the spatial molecular organisation of cancer and the cancer microenvironment. Our speakers include: Dr Lochlan Fennel, a cancer biologist and laboratory head in the School of Health at the University of the Sunshine Coast, talking about data generated with the Human Universal Cell Characterisation Panel on the CosMx spatial molecular imager in colorectal cancer; Dr Nele Lenders, a Staff Specialist Endocrinologist at St Vincent's Hospital, Sydney and Lecturer at St Vincent's Clinical School, UNSW Medicine. Dr Lenders has applied single cell spatial transcriptomics to explore how the latest high-plex assays assist in the classification of pituitary tumours; Professor Nuzhat Ahmed who is the John Turner Professorial Fellow at the Fiona Elsey Cancer Research Centre & Federation University Australia. Professor Ahmed will present data on the differences between platinum sensitive and platinum resistant ovarian cancer using the latest high-plex spatial single cell assays; and Antionetta Salerno, a bioinformatician at the University of New South Wales presenting her research using the 6,000 plex Human Discovery Panel on the CosMx Spatial Molecular Imager in Glioblastoma. Dr Nicholas West from Griffith University will close the session with a demonstratation integrating artificial intelligence for improved specificity in cell identification in spatial transcriptomics along with data from the CellScape system in type 2 inflammation.
